Water Water Everywhere

Water Water Everywhere.

How often do we have to remind ourselves to hydrate our
bodies by drinking more water? Same goes for our fine feathered friends? Common
garden birds, song birds, wild birds need a clean supply of water, along with
birdfeeders and birdhouses that we provide. It is true that during flight the bird’s
eye view will locate, streams, rivers, lakes, and puddles, in fact most bodies of
water, but as populations expand and their habitats are reduced, seasons
change, weather interrupts, we can help by providing fresh water. Sources of
water should be at different levels to provide for those birds that forage and
live on the ground, and those who are tree dwellers. Our backyard friends will
reciprocate by amusing us with their bathing antics. All of these accommodation,
water, food, housing, go a long way in encouraging our little residents to
consider our home their home. Many will stay all year and those who migrate
will return to the place where they find their needs will be met

I would like to mention some of our Western friends, the Hummingbirds,
Allen and Anna. They are very comfortable in the wooded canyons or the citrus
groves of the West Coast, along with more populated areas that have beautiful
flowering trees and eucalyptus. I live in the East and each time I visit
California I am in total envy of the abundance of these creatures, who are
quite friendly, but at the same time territorial. I have spent many hours
watching these little acrobatic marvels. What joy they bring.

Miracles

Miracles Happen Every Day

Miracles happen every day. Flowers bloom, birds sing, babies
of all species are born, some days we have sunshine, and others rain, and so
much more. Upon awakening this morning, I heard a songbird	. I am not sure which
one it was, but it was a different song than I usually hear from my winter
friends, and it caught my attention.

As I sat sipping my morning tea (with Cream and sugar) I
thought about all the things we take for granted, and how our world would be if
they were not present. In the quiet, of the early morning one has a different
perspective on things that in our daily rush we give such little thought. So
often we lose sight of our daily gifts, maybe we should stop, and take a moment
to give thanks, and appreciate them.

When I take time to pay attention to these blessings, I am
uplifted, and life is noticeably better. For all the joy, our feathered friends
give us the least we can do is to provide a helping hand with birdfeeders,
birdhouses and special treats that go along with encouraging our birds to stay
awhile. I hope in the weeks ahead you will take the time to recognize the
genuine, meaningful moments that make you feel happy about yourself and the
world around you.

A
couple of friends I would like to mention today are theTufted Titmouse,
and the White-breasted Nuthatch. Both these little fellows are busy as
they go about their duties, flitting from branch to branch and foraging
for food. The Titmouse loves to eat insects, and as he runs up and down
branches he really is doing is a great job of devouring insects that
target our trees. it is amazing how the White -breasted Nuthatch can
crack small nuts. Both these birds like a meal of birdseed, nuts, moths,
beetles, and other insects.....Of course it goes without saying water
needs to be available

GET READY ! TIME TO PREPARE BIRDFEEDERS AND BIRDHOUSES

Just as Spring cleaning is relevent in our homes, we find that as the seasons change it is time for us to examine our Birdfeeders and BirdHouses for repair, repainting, and cleaning in general. Soon some of our feathered friends who migrated will be returning, joining those who stayed throughout the long winter. This may also be the time to decide where to place our plants and trees that will encourage backyard birds. Fruit and Berry plants and trees will entice many of the song birds that delight us all.

At this writing we want to mention two famous backyard birds. The Eastern Bluebird, and the Carolina Wren, they both love a menu of Fruits and Berries along with the usual fare of Caterpillars, small lizards,Spiders, and other insects, with a helping of birdseed, and a water spot. Given these amenities they will stay long and give you much pleasure.
